Mt. Manslu (8163m) , the eighth-highest mountain in the world is also referred to Kutang, the mountain is situated in the Mansiri Himal. The name Manaslu which means “Mountain of the Spirit,” is derived from the Sanskrit term “Manasa”, that means “intellect” or “soul”.
The mountain was first climbed on 9 May, 1956 by a Japanese team led by Mr. Toshio Imanishi of Japan and Gyaltsen Norbu Sherpa (Nepal) from the route of North East face.
Mt. Manaslu has been popular among the climbers in recent years because of its good accessibility and less significant technical challenges on the main route. It is the ideal peak to begin journey over 8000’s peaks. The best time for the expedition on Mt. Manaslu is in September or October comparatively easier than other 8000’s peaks but there is risk of an avalanche in the Spring season.
